What is the impact of the Civil War on the economies of the North and the South?

Answer

The civil war was a battle between two economically unequal sides. The south was totally disadvantaged as it had no factories to produce ammunition and its railroads were small and not well linked. This meant that movement of food, men and weapons over long distances was a huge problem. Even though the south thrived in agriculture the farmers mostly concentrated on cash crops thus there was not enough food to feed the entire population. On the other hand, the North had enough food and soldiers, and in addition it had a widespread rail network…
