Term Paper Information
A list of suggested term paper topics is at the end of this information sheet. You may choose a topic from this list, or you may create your own topic as long
as it relates to the information covered in this course. The paper must be typed or computer generated, 3-5 pages in length, not including reference
page/appendices, and 12 font. It should be double-spaced with standard 1inch margins. Points will be deducted if the format is not followed.
Resources used for your information may come from the internet, HOWEVER,
– you must have AT LEAST TWO resources that are NOT of internet origin. In other words, yes, you must use the library and look at journals and books; electronic books are ok.
– you may NOT use wikipedia as a resource of any kind for this paper
You will not submit your first draft to the dropbox. Your final draft MUST be submitted to the dropbox on D2L. This will be the check for plagiarism. Your
final draft must be submitted by Dec. 8, 2014. In addition to your electronic submission, you must turn in a printed copy.
A first, rough draft of your paper is due Nov. 3, 2014. It should include the following information and points will be deducted if all the components are not
Cover Page &: includes title, name, class and date
Introduction : introduces topic
Body: main body information
Conclusion: what can you conclude from your information
References: list of references that you referred to in body of paper
Appendices: optional, insert if needed
MLA style should be used for references. Please do not use headers or footnotes. Although MLA does not require a title page, I DO, therefore, please add one.
Do not dispose of your first draft when you get it back; you will need to turn it back to me with your final one.

Formatting the paper
MLA papers should be formatted as follows.
MATERIALSFor papers that you submit as hard copy, use good-quality 8-11? white paper. Secure the pages with a paper clip or staple.
PAGINATIONPut the page number preceded by your last name in the upper right corner of each page, one-half inch below the top edge. Use arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, and so
MARGINS, LINE SPACING, AND PARAGRAPH INDENTSLeave margins of one inch on all sides of the page.Left-align the text.
Double-space throughout the paper. Do not add extra line spaces above or below the title of the paper or between paragraphs.
Indent the first line of each paragraph one-half inch (or five spaces) from the left margin.
LONG QUOTATIONSWhen a quotation is longer than four typed lines of prose or three lines of verse, set it off from the text by indenting the entire quotation one inch
(or ten spaces) from the left margin. Double-space the indented quotation, and don’t add extra space above or below it.
Quotation marks are not needed when a quotation has been set off from the text by indenting.

part of the address).
HEADINGSMLA neither encourages nor discourages the use of headings and currently provides no guidelines for their use. If you would like to insert headings in a long
essay or research paper, check first with your instructor.
