FORMING THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF LEADERSHIP IN NURSING INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF PERSONAL CAREER MAP The Personal Career Map was developed as a part of the Health Leadership Graduate Program at the School of Nursing. It is meant to offer a way of tracking personal leadership development. As leadership is learned through practice, the tool also offers you an opportunity to track your growth and development as a leader and your successes in leading. Organization of the Tool The Personal Career Map begins with baseline data on who you are, key elements of your life history, dominant values that guide your behavior and decisions on a daily basis, and reasons for entering nursing. There is also a place for entering your personal scores on self-assessment tools such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicators and the LEAD score. You may complete such tools several times in your career, so you will need to update the scores and date each one as one means of tracking your ongoing development as a leader.
