The Sociological Imagination

The sociological imagination is an aspect that helps to define the origin of human practices and relate the historical events to the current outcomes (Platt, J., 2013). By developing systematic means of studying the human behavior and environmental transitions can help establish the state of present outcomes. Moreover, the difference in habits, attitudes, and cultural values are attributable to social origins of the particular groups of people. Hence, the social outcomes that occur within the human environment are influenced by events of the past. The cultural practices of society can be understood by tracing the historical background of the people living in that environment. Notably, the adoption of any human behavior is impacted by the surrounding environment. For instance, by observing the transition in preferences of cuisines from other people, we may develop a dislike or likings of the foods they eat. Exposure to the new environment and the ability to relate to other people enable establish relations that supersede the initial observable differences (Platt, J., 2013). One may fail to understand the habit of Australians of eating Kangaroo and Emu, which are their national emblems. However, given a chance to interact with residents in their environment, one may discover the perceptions are absorbed in the indigenous traditions. Therefore, having a sociological perspective helps in understanding the change in human habits and such personal experiences assist in creating appropriate social relations. The environmental setup of every society is based on the historical transitions that are associated with the human activities or natural causes (Platt, J., 2013).
